Sardinia and Corsica - Capo Coda Cavallo

Sardinians say that the real Sardinia is in the northern areas of the island. A mix of scenarios: forested mountain peaks, valleys of citrus groves and towns with Catalan influences.

Description

Property 1557152290 - Capo Coda Cavallo - Sardinian Coast

9 Bedrooms - Pool - Sauna

Location and Surrounding Area. Property 1557152290 is a designer property located on a private estate just 50 metres from a gorgeous white sand cove with waters suitable for hosting larger yachts. This part of northern Sardinia was brought into the jet-set limelight by the Aga Khan in the 1960s and has been famous as a millionaires playground for decades. One of the many splendours of Property 1557152290 is that there are almost no signs of human intrusion to be seen on this picturesque peninsula, just the natural Mediterranean bush vegetation. There is also another sandy beach only a ten minute walk away. It really is an exclusive getaway right next to crystal-clear, turquoise waters. In fact, many of the picture postcards portraying Sardinian beaches are taken in this area. If you're lucky, you might even get to see dolphins splashing around in the protected waters of the Tavolara marine park behind the property. And let's not forget that the Sardinians constantly rank amongst the longest living people on earth so they must be doing something right! In addition to the perfect beaches, spectacular scenery and myriad of sporting activities, Sardinia enjoys a marvellous climate, exceptional wines and a long culinary tradition.

Nearby Olbia was known as the Happy City in ancient Greek and its pretty port and historical centre are well worth visiting. The Gulf of Olbia overlooks the islands of Tavolara and Molara. The Kingdom of Tavolara was set up in the 19th century by the Bertoleoni family as an imaginary state and today the “king” of Tavolara, Tonino Bertoleoni runs a family-owned restaurant near the beach.

Sardinia is one of the claims to being the mythological lost island of Atlantis. The days of the nuraghic civilization date back to the Bronze age and the island is dotted with thousands of ancient, stone domes called nuraghi. Historians have suggested that these stone structures were built as fortresses, homesteads or even for sending messages but as there are no written records, it remains supposition and legend. Inland Sardinia is criss-crossed with thousands of walking, biking and horse-riding trails and there are still plenty of areas where you can find yourself immersed in an unchanged, completely natural landscape with absolutely no sign of mankind, just the silence of the mountains, cork woodlands and centuries-old sheep and goat trails.

Property 1557152290 is 25 km from the town of Olbia and its international airport. The fabulous sandy coves and beaches are only a short walk away. The exclusive resorts of Porto Rotondo and Golfo Aranci, with their designer boutiques and elegant restaurants, are both about 30 km. Porto Cervo is similarly glamourous and is about 70 km from the villa. The Riu Mulinu Nuraghe are on the Su Casteddu hill above Olbia and not to be missed are the Giant's Tombs in nearby Su Monte de S'Aba. You'll find tennis, water sports, a swimming pool, disco and supermarket only a couple of kilometres from the property. A nearby nine-hole golf course is part of a 4 star resort with more restaurants and is less than 10km away.

The Property. This stunning property offers 600 m2 of living accommodation and was designed in 1976 by the Italian architect Luigi Caccia Dominioni. It sleeps up to 18 guests in nine, luxurious double bedrooms. There are eight double bedrooms in the main villa and the ninth double bedroom with en suite bathroom is in the adjacent cottage. The bedding is all of superior quality to guarantee long, restful nights of deep sleep. All of the accommodation is comfortably on the ground floor and every one of the bedrooms has large windows with superb views.

Dining here at Property 1557152290 is an exquisite experience, either outdoors al fresco under the stars, under the covered terrace or in the more formal indoor dining room. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need for recreating some authentic Sardinian dishes such as the delicious curlugionis (potato-filled ravioli) and roast suckling piglet. Sardinian wines are on a world-class scale with the cannonau and carignano reds and the spectacular vermentino whites to name but a few.

The open plan layout of the villa creates a fresh, airy feel and the modern interiors are designed to be as welcoming as possible. The sitting room overlooks immaculate gardens and the infinity swimming pool is a delight to see, let alone splash about in the warm water. The poolside area is fully furnished with sun loungers and umbrellas and there is shady gazebo for hotter days. The sauna is located in the house near the master suite.
